Learning Community March '23
We are meeting together on the 1st March at Swanwick in Derbyshire
Book online here
Small youth groups can be massively fruitful when they work well but also are challenging to get right.
If we can find ways to create a ‘safe space’ within a small group, young people will feel comfortable enough to ask tough questions, engage in discussion and explore faith. This often causes them to think more deeply about who Jesus is.
However, young people with challenging behaviour can totally disrupt a small group or a lack of trust in the youth leaders, or lack of interest in God (maybe because we’ve pitched the input at the wrong level). We’ve probably all been there and know what this is like…
Adding ‘bite size’ pieces of prayer and spiritual engagement into the mix will help young people explore with their hearts as well as their heads. This is where really fruitful youth work often starts to happen in small groups.
